Hi all, planning my next trip and am looking at going from Paris up through Belgium and onto Amsterdam, does anyone know which way the wind generally blows looking at August time to complete or has anyone completed a similar route Thanks

SW is the prevailing wind, same as England, but you can still be surprised. One summer, I rode the coast from Dunkerque to the Hook of Holland with friends and the wind came from the N or NW most of the time (in addition to any sea breeze effects). Much of it was similar to the fens: there ain't a lot of shelter!

Could be anything (wet or dry), there is zero point in worrying about it. It is what it is on the day you're riding, deal with it.
But I did Lille-Breda in a single day 50 years ago with a nice tailwind

Have a look at this:

The wind is 60% from the South or West, so that is about right for you and matches the prevailing.
However, I reckon we are getting more NE winds over the last few years. When I rode the WW1 Western Front in June 2018, I had a NE head wind all the way. It was associated with one of those very hot spells. Likewise in June in Normandy last year - heatwave and another NE'ster.
As others have said, pretty much pot luck unless you wait till a day or two before to decide direction of travel.

I operate on Sod’s Law so it’ll be a headwind, whichever route you choose. Tailwind days are golden but that’s because they’re so rare!

There's no such thing as a tailwind. It's either a headwind or you're on good form.

I don't understand! You've gone the wrong side of Mechelen centre to visit the Gouden Carolus brewery.
More seriously, the detour to the east of Utrecht adds miles.

I'm just looking at this route for next year. Did you go in the end? If so, how was the trip? Any highlights or places to avoid?
