Great result from Chris Hoy, Jason Kenny, and Jamie Staff. They've brought home the gold for the team Sprint to compliment Nicole Cook's Gold and Emma Pooley's Silver!

:D

Let the medal rush begin!

I can't wait for the athletics to start properly which is what the Olympics is all about. No one really cares about these dull, boring sport like cycling, swimming, gymnastics, badminton, canoeing, rowing and shooting - all which will be sadly forgotten about when the games are over.

...and the girls did good, 1st and 2nd qualifiers for the individual pursuit with Wendy recording a british record.
The men have qualified well in the men's pursuit with Wiggo taking first place in a terrific olympic record ride.

You forgot to mention equestriananism. Although it is remarkably forgettable.

Nothing could enliven shooting and archery - unless they made it genuinely competitive. Pistols At Dawn, I would watch :D

Actually, I rather enjoy the coverage which the Olympics allows to sports you'd otherwise never see on the TV. Weightlifting, rowing, fencing and so on are really good to watch once in a while.

Funny you should say that - the 20m and 30m duel was in the 1906 games. They fired at mannequins wearing frock coats and bull's-eyes on their chests.

On the subject of events they should bring back, I heard Tommy Godwin being interviewed on Radio 4, and he mentioned track tandem racing

What a thing that would be to see!

The tandem sprint has only been dropped from the world championships quite recently. I had a quick look on google to try to discover the year but all the entries seem to relate to paralympics.

I believe this chap does not have The First Idea about cycling. For example:

Nine gold medals were claimed by British riders in Manchester at the 2008 World Track Championships, purely from track racing events.

...As opposed to the road races usually held at the Track Championships?
