The chromed lugged Wabi special Limited Edition looks lovely too...shame it is sold out!!

There's an interesting frame on eBay at the moment if you like your lugs chromed. Kennedy city cycles, not much info from a quick google. A few blemishes and spots of minor corrosion.

£200 seems a bit steep without forks although I think it is 'bespoke'!!

That would be good for you Samuel, a belt drive single speed, ideal in a salt laden environment, bit of vaseline on the lugs to keep them protected.

Got one on my dining table.

I had a choice of silver or black headset (Tange Seiki Technoglide). Not sure I made the right choice, especially since the lugs have a higher sheen than the cups of the headset. Should I knock them out and press in something black? Anodised red to be a wild man? (The Wabi stem cap is red though you can barely see it here.)

I’m having a heck of a time deciding on the colour scheme here. Already have silver cranks with a contrasting black chainring. Will go with silver hubs. Will use a BL-1050 brake lever (silver and black) and some kind of old single-pivot Shimano brake calliper I think, which probably means the calliper will be silver. So that’s already a lot of silver. No rear brake, initially at least. Black rims would wear down the brake track on one wheel only. Black spokes? Black seatpost? Black stem? Black bar tape? Could I get away with white tape if the saddle will be black? Taking suggestions!

Very nice, bet that cost a packet to ship from the States. But it's worth it.

I think that Zach Gallardo fellow built up a similar frame in this youtube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54OcNmg-5Yw&t=444s

I think you could do a better job. It's got to be polished silver alloy components and wheels, with black tape and tyres........

Anyhow, hope you enjoy the process, post an image when you're done and let us know the final weight. You've got to get sub 20lbs all up!

+1, that does look nice.
I once had a frame powder coated dark blue, that came back looking dark purple ish. Luckily I rather liked it.

Agree about keeping the silver headset, especially as most other parts will be silver too. Suits the retro look of the frame.

Call me old fashioned but a black leather saddle, black bar tape and tan wall tyres would suit too.

Great that you have treated yourself Samuel. You only live once and the exercise benefits alone make it all worthwhile. Enjoy!
