Bottom bracket replacment

Post by serval »

Hi guys,
So ive not used a bike for several years but i recently inherited a gt agressor xc3 needing a new bottom bracket.

Took the existing one out and its looking like this Image

Its an rpm bb7420.

After a quick read i seems these arent so reliable so im looking for a suitable replacment from a better brand.

Is anyone able to recomend a suitable alternative instead of replacing like for like?

I'd probably go with a Shimano UN300, which is available from Wiggle in 123mm spindle, 68mm or 73mm thread, for £15..
There has been discussion on here suggesting the old UN5x series were better, but they're no longer made (might be able to find NOS). Other makes are available, but good ones can be pretty expensive, and I have no experience of them.
