As above, visit some of the other topics on this subject, essentially find a solicitor experienced in cycling cases.
1. Make a list of all damages, not just bike but clothing etc.
2, Keep a list of all unusual expenditure, hospital car parking, taxis, any out of pocket expenses that you would not normally have spent, so bus fares, extra care for children(?), time off work for yourself,
3. Keep a recovery diary, it may sound silly writing down the date when your wife could walk across a room, walk upstairs, return to driving / cycling, etc., but in 18-24 months when stuff finally gets to being settled you will not recall all these finer details....
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Oh and if your wife is still working make sure she checks her contract, there is probably a clause where in the event of a compensation claim then employers costs are also recovered... you do not want to get compensation for the accident only to find employers want a chunk of it.
My last accident my solicitor contacted the finance department for costs and this was added to the final claim.

Have you checked up on these?
When I went for a trip over the bonnet of a car I got the driver's details, but whilst the address was correct the name wasn't, and he then moved house without leaving any forwarding address, and without paying for the damage.
