Courier for boxed bike collection?

Anyone recommend a reliable courier for a boxed bike collection (UK) DX failed to collect when last booked.

Paisley Freight is often used, incl. by me - but iirc they do sub-contract at least some of the time.

If your bike is boxed and ready to go, use parcel-to-go or interparcel or one of the other brokers and choose the cheapest. There's a lot of sub contracting in the parcel business, even from the big players, so no courier is going to be more reliable than another. The exception to this seems to be UPS, though I've never used them as every time I've looked they've been twice the price.

I've used Pareclforce. Book direct on their site for oversize48 delivery.

I've had good experience with Paisley freight, both receiving and sending. Well priced, too. They seem to specialise in cycles and sporting goods. I used Vanly once, never stopped getting emails from their contractors until I contacted them and unsubscribed, which shouldn't be necessary.

Paisley's main selling point is that they supply box and packing and make sure that the correct size and weight is booked with the carrier. Then your bike goes by APC, TNT, Parcelforce, some independent you've never heard of, or any combination of the above. If you don't need the add ons they're offering, it doesn't make much sense to pay for them.

When I used bikedelivery.co.uk earlier this year the service was provided by APC. I could also track the status.

So what was the advantage of using Paisley?
APC don't have a complete network, they subcontract a fair bit of it out, United Carriers deliver for them around here and a fair bit of the trunking is handled by Parcelforce.
I have no criticism of Paisley, their reviews are as mixed as any other courier's, I'm merely asking if someone doesn't need the packaging and their brokerage, why anyone recommends they pay for it.

Simply put they had a decent website, I had a box already and they would collect from the door. My nearest post office would require a drive.

If you're happy, you're happy. I'm just pointing out to others you're recommending to that they can go to a broker such as Interparcel or parceltogo, get the same service, including collection, possibly from the same courier and most probably for a cheaper price.

Just an update. DX finally collected today at their 2nd attempt. Better late than never.
