It works
With a bit of luck, here is a picture of my Winter bike, newly-converted from hub gear to derailleurs. Chris Juden, much missed CTC technical adviser, said Shimano 10speed GRX would work with Campag 10 speed levers, and it does, perfectly. The hub is a Shimano XT with an 11-34 casette paired with 44/28 chainrings, all from Spa Cycles. Thanks to a bit of advice from 531Colin the BB7 cable disc brakes work nicely, again with the Campag ergo levers. I am just about to fit the mudguards.
Re: It works
IIRC the cable pulls are about the same apart from 2nd gear where the predicted misalignment is so bad that good shifting probably won't last unless sprocket spacing is adjustedian peacock wrote: ↑11 Oct 2023, 5:15pm..... Re: It works
This is wonderful: Brucey is back! Along with 531Colin and Chris Juden, what a team! So, Brucey, if it works now, why won't it continue to do so? Best wishes, Ian

Is the XT rear hub 9-speed or 10-speed?ian peacock wrote: ↑11 Oct 2023, 5:15pm Maurice Woodrup New.jpegWith a bit of luck, here is a picture of my Winter bike, newly-converted from hub gear to derailleurs. In my experience Campag 10-speed ergo levers work very well with a 9-speed Shimano hub/cassette.

Re: It works
IIRC the misalignment in 2nd is about 1mm so when the chain is worn expect bad shifting hereian peacock wrote: ↑11 Oct 2023, 7:14pm This is wonderful: Brucey is back! Along with 531Colin and Chris Juden, what a team! So, Brucey, if it works now, why won't it continue to do so? Best wishes, Ian

Re: It works
So where does GRX come in the scheme of things ?
Is it the same as MTB or something else.?
What is its cable pull ?
Campag' 10 is shown as 2.8mm per click. (that's the same as Tiagra 4700 10 speed.)

Re: It works
Shimano is nice enough to publish very comprehensive (if complicated) compatibility info: https://productinfo.shimano.com/#/com?c ... acid=C-454.
GRX is a gravel groupset that comes at 3 levels:
11 speed GRX 810 and 600 are compatible with 11 speed road groups - so it obviously uses the 11 speed cable pull ratio.
10 speed GRX 400 is compatible with the Tiagra 4700 10 speed road group only, so it uses the ‘11 speed’ cable pull ratio as well.
in both 10 and 11 speed versions.
There's a new 12 speed GRX mechanical just released as well.
