Vernon was on another cycling site a couple of weeks ago.I noticed that he cycled up Stonegate Road.Which our street branches off.So i pm him.Inviting him for a warm or cool drink when he passed.Gave him my house number and street.Get this he lives in the same street on the evens side.We are seperated by a small wood.So i nipped round to see him.We are going to have a cyclists get together and pick his brain for info.Great bloke.

When Mark Twain was travelling in Europe, his obituary appeared in American newspapers. He sent a cable: 'The report of my death was an exaggeration.'

It is with great sadness i have to tell you Vernon, who lived in the same street as me, died this year.It was sudden due to a heart attack. He had only just retired on the Friday, and died on the following Tuesday while on holiday in Budapest. He was with his family at the time.I am sorry to pass this news on seeing i am just visiting this site, after a long absence.

There was a long tribute thread posted here.
