Hiring a road bike on the Isle of Man

I have to be driver and in a car too small to take my road bike to the IOM in September for a holiday. Been several times before but still have the urge to cycle the TT course.
I've a feeling Mark Cavendish won't lend me his bike, so does anyone know where on the island I can hire one?

Hi Geoff.
Telephone Eurocycles. They are based in Douglas. 01624 624909
Ask for Mark. (He is the owner and best bloke to talk to)
Try BikeStyle. Tel 01624 673576 Ask for Gavin Quayle.
Hope this helps you. Enjoy your riding on the island we do have a lovely place to cycle. Remember some riding is better off the TT course. So many folk who come here think its only the TT course and Douglas. The island has a lot to offer away from these two areas dont forget.
Personally the TT course is hateful to cycle on but thats my opinon only. Unless your on it at 7am that is.
IF you fancy a cycle partner (promise Ill have my gob zipped) for part of your run give me a pm.
All best

Thanks, Mary.
Years ago I'd read that it is better to ride the TT course anticlockwise as a cyclist, as opposed to the motorbike clockwise route, would you agree?
What are your favourite rides on the road using a road bike please?

From memory I think going anti-clockwise might have more gradual climbs. If you are starting in Douglas then anti-clockwise has the advantage of doing the mountain section early on whilst your legs are fresh.
I'm glad I cycled the TT course when I visited the IoM for a holiday. It's a great way to appreciate what an awesome circuit it is. I still can't decide if the guys who race it are heroes or idiots!

To get the full effect of the mountain climb you must do it from Ramsey, so clockwise is the way to go. Take your time or see if you can get near Boardman's record, which is under 1hr 30 mins for the 37.75 miles. My PB is 1hr 52 mins.
If you want a real leg breaking climb, try Injebreck from Douglas, Sulby Glen from Sulby or the climb up to Sarah's Cottage from Kirk Michael.
If you cross the Fairybridge (on the way to Castletown), you must say hello to the fairies, or the p******e fairy will get you.
