Yes it is, just not many gears. If you can find one, there are the old Sturmey Archer fixed hubs, but these are collectors items now. Alternatively, there is somebody who semi-commercially modifies old 4 speed hubs (I think) to 2 or 3 speed fixed hubs. I cannot remember who, but it crops up on the various forums every now and again. Then to double the number of gears, perhaps you could use a Mountain Drive 2 speed bottom bracket gear.

gar, Josie Dew was unable to use or bend one of her knees for over a year and had her existing bike (with gears), adapted for use with one leg. The crank was altered so her defective leg was not used.
The company that did the crank modification was UNICAM rehabilitation systems. I can't find a website but their address is: 1, Bampton Avenue, Chard, Somerset. TA20 1DS
Tel No. 01460 67926

I am sure it will help me on my way. I shall have a look at that now. I am temporarily enjoying the lack of adductor muscles as Posture/yoga specialists will tell you that they are not necessary for Yogic posture.
In fact they inhibit any number of useful yoga exercices.
I made a choice between yoga supplenes and cycling strength/stamina a few years ago and the choice is an either/or choice!
No adductors and glutes.... good yoga
Adductors and Big glutes..... Cycling...NO yoga

Unicam sounds like Paul Butterworth who is recommmended by SJStreet. They are ll a bit indoorsie those but the principles are good ones.

Tatanab suggests old sturmey hubs which can provide that upward movement otherwise lost by a free "wheeling" shaft.
I wonder whether it could be done with the rohloffs and nine gears. It would be a pricey bit of equipment to do it with.

I Remember those 3gear fixed sturmeys; they were all the rage in 1956...... and they got better .. to four.

Why can that not be done with nine gears in a hub!?

They did the conversion for Josie Dew who used her 27 ratio set-up with it on touring trips, so I think they know what they are doing!

She may have had some use of the leg. I can't press down at all.

Is TJ saying that 27gears still had a fixed wheel
done by them?

This must be a committee.
