My helmet lights

I am happy with them, many helmets have them

Can we avoid the don't fit things to helmet comments please as tens of thousands do and others don't wear them anyway

When I bought the £10 LIDL one for an emergency I wondered about my 2 and FOX specialised helmets, actually I bought thgem originally for each leg of my telescopes tripod mount when at club meetings

You can just call them "head torches", and that will (hopefully ) sidestep all discussion relating to h*lmets.

Of course, if your headtorch is antisocial bright then you shouldn't use it around other road-users, so you may get comments about that, soz ...

my helmet has one of these lights on it, it is not very bright and I never use it. Even though I am very well illuminated when cycling in the dark with two bright rear lights and reflective clothing. Would a judge deem that I need share some of the blame if a car rear ended me on the grounds that I did not have all my lights on ?

Have you had someone check whether it is visible when riding?
I have an add-on helmet rear light and had to shim it to angle correctly. If you ride drops you might find it far less effective than you think?

A useful additional light if it is angled right.

Previous discussions have often confused two different uses: a device on your head to illuminate the road etc and a device on your head to show your position to other road users.

Please don't dazzle people.

I think Bikemate is an Aldi offering. Lidls stuff is branded as Crivit.
I purchased a similar helmet from Lidl so I had a spare when my grandchildren visited. it had a flat battery :(

There is a fine line between dazzling and not being noticed.

Alas, my experience is that on back roads, unless you have really very bright lights, cars drive past you with their full beam on. If you have very bright lights, they treat you as a car and dip. Others may feel differently.

I like to have a helmet mounted light for three reasons:
(1) helps ensure visibility at junctions, particularly roundabouts, where you can direct the light to make yourself more visible to motorists who might otherwise not notice you
(2) Because I automatically have a spare light on whichever bike I'm riding
(3) Because I find them very obvious on cyclists I see with them.

All of these are purely subjective, but I definitely feel safer with one. I use mine on the lowest setting to reduce dazzle.

Even without dazzling, showing a red light forwards as helmet lights do when you look around, seems a really daft and unhelpful thing to do.

I do a lot of Yoga, but no way can I get my rear helmet light to face forward...at least not when I'm wearing the helmet and riding  .

There was a previous thread on head torches where I had a comment that I shouldn't have a front torch because I would show a white light to the rear when I turned my head :?

Is this thread meant to be a review or a recommendation ?
What are the regulations regarding using these 'on the road' ?
