Name/link for retro barbag carrier for KlickFix

Bar bags (at least the Karrimor ones) used to be attached by means of a metal carrier that went around the bag and then wrapped itself around the stem. Later, the same carrier was altered in shape to fit directly into a KlickFix holder. I'm trying to get hold of this later version but don't have a term or photo of one to put it out there, so to speak. Does anyone know what they are called or where I might find one?

Karrimor supports comprised two parts that fitted around the quill stem and bars like the wire puzzle design, which were held together by a bracket, nut and bolt. The Nitto F-18 is similar but is clamped to the bars and so compatible with threadless stems.

Carradice used the wire puzzle design. The Nitto F16 is similar, but the Carradice version was shaped to match their bar bags, which had two plastic hooks to clip onto the support. The bags also had a webbing strap and buckle to fasten around the head tube in order to stop the bag and support moving.when the front wheel went over a bump in the road. Karrimor bags had elasticated cords which fastened to the bottom of the bag and were hooked onto the front dropout.

One of these?

Happy to send for cost of postage. And the bag if interested. I stopped using when I discovered waterproof ortlieb ones.

The Klikfix wire prong bar bag supports went out of production 15 or more years ago, basically because handlebar bags using side sleeve support were no longer produced.
I would advise going for the wire puzzle type as above or the fairly similar style that had over and under loops bolted together (less prone to bag bounce).

Ooh there’s one of those in the garage. Karrimor were way ahead of the curve in inventing tri-bars….

Yes please, brilliant! Will send PM.

You can see the square shape - this fits directly into a standard KlickFix. The older wire puzzle ones don't unfortunately and they also don't wrap around newer-style stems.

I still like my Karrimor bar bags!

Unfortunately the Nitto F16 wire puzzle won't work (AFAIR) on new stems (angle/width?) and the Nitto F18 would take the place of the Klickfix used on occasion for other KlickFix-compatible bags.

I bought this wire-puzzle one in Leeds around 1980, to use with the Carradice bar bag that's in the background. I still have both. I don't use it often, but here it is on my Mercian, which has more modern bars and aero levers, as opposed to the Cinelli bars and exposed cables that I used back when I bought the bag.

So wire-puzzle ones may occasionally still fit!

I'm wondering now if the wire puzzle would actually fit, although as I recollect it didn't due to the nature of the new-type stem (as opposed to the older quill type). I do know that it doesn't fit the Klickfix and given that I want to retain the Klickfix, obviously that won't work for me.

I'm going to dig out the wire puzzle that I have and see if it fits another bike with no Klickfix. Hmmm . . .
