I did laugh LOL
I think the UK English meaning is quite innocent, and from the same derivation as 'Well, I'll be blowed!' and 'Blow me down with a feather!'. I suspect the vulgar usage is largely from its use in US English, and is much less commonly used as such in the UK.

For the record with regard to moderating, where there is sufficient ambiguity about the meaning of a word or acronym used in a post, I will assume it's the non-vulgar meaning. However, most acronyms do not have non-vulgar meanings, so 'WTH' for 'what the hell' or 'what the heck' is fine, but the version with 'F' as the final letter absolutely is not.

Interesting article here on the use of swearing, especially the consequence of its overuse by soldiers in WW1 - https://www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v40/n03 ... -is-coming.

How about using wax crayons to add a bit of colour?

You have to tuck it into your bra to keep it out the wind.
Hence the term candelabra.

Thank you.... sadly the carridice tin is quite small and I needed two of them to re-water proof my saddle bar. I suspect that to do both panniers may take 4 or 5 tins...

I'm now thinking I should give some gloves a dunk next time the wax bath is heated for a chain wax. Possibly an upgrade to the usual plain paraffin wax with the addition of the remnants from some scented candles ?

Search 'wax dressing reproofing 200ml' or similar - £8-£14 or so, depending on the poshness of the label!

I left a cotton satchel in a hot car last year.

When my emergency candle (don't ask*) melted in-situ, it wicked through the entire back panel quite comprehensively.

Now if a bottle leaks in my bag, I no longer need fear that its contents may escape without saturating my paperwork and other chattels. That part of the bag is visibly wearing better too. Just need to wait for some better weather so I can get the other side sorted too!

*No, really. Don't!
