Probably that's the reason I like the area so much, no one else goes there.
I go there, and I agree, there's a lot to like. Starting from here, near Hitchin, and once past Stevenage, anywhere towards the east is surprisingly rural and pleasant.

We finished our tour of East Anglia with some Essex villages before riding the Lee Valley into London.

Both were very pleasant surprises.

We totted up who might be coming and ended up with over 20.
That ruled out trains and linear rides because of unmanageable numbers.

We settled on a log cabin and camp site near Holt as about half of us have caravans and campers, and a mixed location like this allows us to be flexible.

We did similar last year near Hunstanton which worked well.

Might even get a trip on the North Norfolk Railway.

Holt seems a pretty good base. 10-15 miles from lots of interesting places. 26 to Norwich by each of two reasonable routes. Cycle.travel generally reliable there. Other than the A roads, most are OK. Enjoy!
MJR, mostly pedalling 3-speed roadsters. KL+West Norfolk BUG incl social easy rides http://www.klwnbug.co.uk
