Presta/Schrader Valve Replacement Head
Just bought a cordless comprsesser and the attached head is a standard Schrader car type. It's too fiddly to keep screwing an adaptor onto each Presta valve so i have decided to replace with a dual Presta/Schrader head.
Any recommended ones?

Re: Presta/Schrader Valve Replacement Head
I leave a brass adapter on my woods valves.

Re: Presta/Schrader Valve Replacement Head
my preferred solution to this is to use a lever action chuck meant for schrader, and convert it to presta (which is not too difficult). With a following wind the revised chuck will do woods valves too. Then just use a screw-on adaptor for schrader. As a bonus, it may be easier to pump schrader valves when using this conversion on a manual pump, because in use, the adaptor can more reliably open the schrader valve fully vs. some other schrader chucks, leaving only the resistance of the check valve in the adaptor to pump against.VinceLedge wrote: ↑19 Jan 2024, 12:13pm Just bought a cordless comprsesser and the attached head is a standard Schrader car type. How often will you need to use it on Schrader valves?VinceLedge wrote: ↑19 Jan 2024, 12:13pm Just bought a cordless comprsesser and the attached head is a standard Schrader car type. About 50:50 Presta : Schrader
Re: Presta/Schrader Valve Replacement Head
Thanks
My favourite double fitting head is the reversible screw-on "flip chuck" of the Lezyne Micro Floor Drive pump:

but you'd also need the hose adaptor

Re: Presta/Schrader Valve Replacement Head
Does that just push fit onto the valve?
Re: Presta/Schrader Valve Replacement Head
I know that some people seem to like them but IMV anything made of Al which screws onto a presta valve is just asking for trouble. In a LBS nearby, they use lezyne pumps in the workshop. They get through several connectors a year because they are just not built to last.
