The real problem for me using the trains to get around with a bicycle is that the bike compartment is right alongside the smokers or the lounge section of the train, which ,whatever my reputation may really be.... for some of the guards for example.... is BAD.
Because I sit with dossers and smokers
(near the cycle compartment and guards cabin;
same thing for many) they think that i too am a dosser and smoker which I am not.
I rewally do think that those members of CTC
who gripe so much about their loss of privileges
should consider investing in the Brompton, price list readily available in .pdf above.
I am looking for a bike which a one legged man can use without falling over the crossbar everytime he dismounts or puts his foot down.
BUT it is collapsible too; very tidily!
The point about cycling and trains until now is that you can get to ANYWHERE in the British Isles quickly and easily without owning a car if you are prepared to accept just a little bit of roughing it with other passengers.
With a Brompton you don't even have to rough it, and you don't even have to argue the rights and wrongs of Train company cycling policy!
Put it all behind you! Get on a train same as every other passenger, with a small amount of luggage. Get off it without bugging anybody.
Cycle away .......way ahead of the crowd.
I am thinking now as a customer of SWT that
£800 is a small price to pay for a one legged
man user to get on in the rush hour and avoid the guards and the dossers and everybody!
Bikes in the Luggage Rack please.
They come apart/together in about 30 seconds.
Take a peek up above ... superlites...six gears... everything.
