Surely a pedant is a pedant. Saying a complete pedant, is as I said above an oxymoron.

If a person is is only sometimes pedantic he is not a pedant.

But one of these pedantic acts must still be described as pedantry, even if the perpetrator is not invariably pedantic.

Besides, one would need to define in what sense "complete" was being used. I could certainly be a pedant-in-training, but I might even be one-legged as well.

Wrong on two counts. It should be Pedant's Society not Pedants Society. In any case, I think you'll find it's called The Society of Pedants.

My brother in law's way of dealing with anyone who is being pedantic is to say don't be such a pendant. It's quite intriguing to see them weighing up whether they should or should not correct him.

I was going to join the Anarchist's Society until I discovered they had rules.

I thought it was a thread about walking and thought why would you want to be talking about walking and what kind of walking ?

I thought I'd check in and make sure it's the correct kind of walking and not something that I should report to Monty Pythons Ministry of Silly Walks.

Maybe if you're pedantic you're getting up to mischief while out for a walk. There's a few pedantics around our area.

Er...in which case should that not be Pedants' Society... ? as the position of the apostrophe in the quote above infere that there was only one and that therefore not a Society?
Forums (sic) such as this should consider Skitt's Law penalties. All proceeds to charity.

Exactly. Just like the greengrocer's apostrophe is only used by one offender. Oh, hang on ...

There is a big Facebook group called summat like
"People Incorrectly Correcting Other People".
It's good fun sometimes. I doubt they'd have as many members if they'd called it "Skitts Law"

I think you'd like it! :-)
