Differences between Magura HS rim brakes

Post by pjclinch »

I'll be getting a Moulton SST later this year with a front V brake that I'd quite like to change for a Maggie hydraulic. I've had HS-33s on my 'bent tourer for years and have been very happy with them, but a quick trawl around leaves me unsure as to what the effective differences are between the HS33 and the 22 and 11 models.
Does "the panel" know of differences to guide a choice please (or reasons to not put one on a Moulton SST)?

Pete.

Slaves are all the same, HS11 had different levers with longer blades. The mountings also varied with HS33 having all the QRs and braces, HS11 did not. However over the years they also changed the designs several times so exactly which HS33 etc you have can vary.

Thanks, my 33s are about 20 years old, though I'm really just wondering which of 11, 22 or 33 I should go with now. From what I can gather from Magura's marking, one's great, so is the other, and so is the other, which isn't actually that helpful...

IIRC the cheaper ones have cost-reduced things like plastic levers. That said my bargain basement MT2 brakes have been flawless (just like my HS33 and HS77!)

would new seals and hoses make them 'like new' again?

Quite possibly, but TBH they still work beautifully so I'm not inclined to fix wot ain't broke!

I'm not. Perhaps rewind to the top of the thread?

sorry, yes, I see....
I'm afraid I don't really know my way around their current offerings, Mind you, is there any danger of being sold a set that are not of the current specification, I wonder?
