Use unique passwords for this forum

Following on from

I thought to post a brief explanation & request to forum users.

The short edition is:
1) Please use unique passwords for this forum
2) report stuff that looks weird, unusual, or suspicious

The longer explanation:
Hackers sometimes obtain lists of email addresses, user names, & passwords from compromised sites. Then, assuming that people are creatures of habit, the hackers try the same user names/email addresses and passwords on other sites.

Sometimes it works. It is likely that a spammer/hacker successfully used at least two dormant user IDs on this forum recently. Both have now been deactivated.

Anytime you notice spammy signatures added after the fact, or that someone starts posting bland, pointless stuff, especially if they have been absent for some time, please report it.
