Bar-end mirrors on both sides and a saddlebag might make life easier.

I have made some changes to my commuter bike to allow for some of the issues that may present themselves whilst I recover. I have fitted a large saddlebag to take the place of a backpack and changed the stem to one 20mm shorter and with a 17° rise. These changes have made quite a difference and should help a lot, particularly given that this is my most important bike (car free lifestyle). Unfortunately I have a fleet of bikes of various sorts......Road tourer, off road tourer, weekend day bike and a couple of classic restorations! I am reluctant to alter these, in fact it would be difficult or impossible for some. For the time being I am quite happy to give my body time to recover, as long as the commuter is usuable for essential transport tasks such as shopping and getting to work.
Obviously I will need to re assess the situation if my shoulder does not recover as well as I'm hoping!
