It hasn't reduced the price of the car oil or filters. I consider it's just a means of getting us to store in the belief we'll make a saving

I prefer to use small independents but based on my experience I do feel that Halfords get a bad rap, noting some are good, others not so.
I bought a new Boardman hardtail earlier this year which with discounts was an absolute steal. I had an issue with the fork which was diagnosed immediately by the technician and was after a few weeks of waiting (parts issue) with a much upgraded one at no cost, so I now have the equivalent of a £1500 bike for less than half. The bike runs brilliantly now!
Contrast this to my rip off local bike shop that tries to sell me new pedals every time I’ve been for work (even though my Dmr v12’s were less than 12 months old) and charged me £55 to basically regrease the Hope bottom bracket on my Whyte and a further £95 to replace enduro rear wheel bearings. I complained and got no where
I’ve also used Halfords for mobile tyres on our cars and found them efficient, easy to use and very competitively priced, so not all bad!!

I recently bought a Boardman e-bike from Halfords in Byfleet, Surrey, and got a good deal and good service.

It won't apply to products that are on offer/reduced price, but should work on everything else, it certainly does in my store
