Newton Stewart Sustrans route 7 Surface question

Post by jimbr2002 »

Hi all

Before setting off, does anyone have any knowledge of the surface on the alternative NCN Route 7 that runs to the east of Newton Stewart past Loch Grannoch, Clatteringshaws Loch and Loch Dee.
It looks like its going to be forest fire road track.

Any info gratefully received.

The surface is well-established compounded quarry stone for much of the route. Dry and dusty on hot days and wide enough for a lorry. A family car could be driven along the route. Please note that the cafe at Clatteringshaws has recently closed.
