No idea on bike size but feels seat is too close?
No idea on bike size but feels seat is too close?
No idea on how to upload an image. Got a bike for free on marketplace. I’ve googled all the words I can see and nothing comes up. The seat feels too close to the handle bars. Like my bum is shuffling backwards as far as it can to make it comfy. Do I need a bigger frame size or just adjust the seat? I did put the seat up a bit, my feet were still flat on the floor but I can’t see how making it taller will make it feel further back? It’s like my bum is too close??
Can anyone help? I have a serial number but guess this is of no info to anyone lol

Start here

A a quick start position is that your leg should be straight when you are sat on the saddle with your heel on the pedal.

Have you checked all of the adjustments that you can make at the handlebars and at the seat? And do you already have suitable tools?
As a starting position I'd advise getting seat at the right height for pedalling, just a slight bend in your knee when it's fully extended (or fully extended when testing with your heel, as above). This may mean not being able to get both feet flat on the floor, and on many bikes that then requires getting off the saddle when you stop and back on when you start.
Yes, it does sound as if moving the saddle further back could help. But do the height first.
And when you've worked out how to show photos please post one of you on the bike, on the saddle, feet on the pedals.

DIY bike fitting linked below
Set saddle height first.
Then saddle setback, relative to the pedals. ….KOPS will do for now.
Having done those 2 you can now sensibly judge reach to the bars
If you can, get someone to video you riding from the side.
I think you need to post the video on you tube and post a link here, but all that is beyond this old man!
Oh dear, just seen the date!

There are two techniques upthread which give the same result: slightly bent with the toe on the pedal and straight with the heel on the pedal.Jcr1 wrote: ↑1 Apr 2024, 4:54pmWhen my foot touches the bottom pedal my leg is bent lolfreeflow wrote: ↑1 Apr 2024, 3:18pm Start here
