Union 8601 BB dynamo missing bolt

Hello all,

if I understand it correctly, the remote control cable inner should be clamped inside the small cylinder located in the plastic body groove. The cylinder has a flat screwdriver slot on one end and a threaded opening on the other. Where a clamping bolt should go, it seems. The bolt is missing. Does anyone know of a suitable replacement bolt?

In this picture the cylinder (which I have) is number 14 and the bolt I am looking for is probably number 20?

I don't think it's critical so a standard metric screw should suffice. Whatever fits in the cylindrical cable clamp. Could be M5, M4 even M3.
I rigged up something similar on a soubitez bottom bracket dynamo with a cable, and DT lever. Drilled a suitable hole through the dynamo release lever and used a cable clamp from a caliper brake.

Less then M5, I believe. But the bolt head has to be very narrow, at most the same diameter as the cylinder, otherwise it would not fit inside the groove. Here is the situation (with the cylinder moved sideways in the groove):

I have some version of that dynamo in my stock, and if I don't forget, I may check it after work.

if you first identify which thread you need I think you could quickly and easily make the head size smaller in a standard fastener.

I would probably use a stainless steel caphead and make the head smaller via the SG method.

2_i, that would be very kind of you.

Brucey, I was thinking about those grub bolts.
But yes, I need to know the thread. I managed to take the cylinder out of the groove. It does not react to magnet, probably brass? Outer diameter is 5mm. Internal diameter 3.0-3.1mm, a tiny bit less then a M4 nut I have here. M4 bolt does not thread in the cylinder, but maybe it would if I forced it. I think there's some oxidation. Maybe if I cleaned the threads (soaking it into something?) it turns out to be M4...

Yes, it is a grub screw, M4x0.7, 4mm long, with a cup point and a slotted head, though the latter should not matter. Soak that cable stop in oil.

Great info, 2_i. Many thanks indeed!
