Acid reflux and more..

I am 54, I'm diagnosed with ADHD and just have to get out daily on bike.

I have suffered with Acid reflux since 1994 after being diagnosed with a Duodenal stomach ulcer which still flares up now and then and I litterally bring up blood and acid and have been hospitalised more times than i care to remember.
On statin cholesterol tablets one a day and not over weight and generally healthy, just have to avoid beer 😟 spices, curry, pastry, fried foods and all sorts, it is a nightmare.
I also suffer severe hay-fever and diagnosed with allergic Rhinitus which means my nose is running constantly daily all year round, just started a higher dose of new meds for that hope it brings some relief, and have nose bleeds now and then especially if taking nasel sprays, one week some time ago I had 21 nose bleeds in a week and ended up in hospital having it cauterized.
I'm on daily meds for acid reflux, suffer migraines regular mostly in bright sunlight and have meds for that too.
I have a another med daily that's for anxiety and depression but is also a beater blocker so heart rate at rest can sometimes be 40bpm but I don't let it get to me, I service my bike regular and its like new bike but is 20 years old, go for small rides few hours here and there, last was earlier this week I did 22km ride and thoroughly enjoyed it, came back and cleaned bike and chain and reoiled it.

My son is also diagnosed with ADHD & Autism and is hard work but when he isn't at his new special needs school we go for weekend rides and he really enjoys it too, you just have to get up and carry on regardless.

Great attitude.

I'm glad that you're both enjoying the cycling.

Sympathies, Deano. I'm likewise on the daily PPI's to keep the acid down, but "only" since 2007. I find that the longer I can spend on the bike the better, for both reflux and humour.

Good luck.

Get a top of the range vacuum cleaner with no bags that can be emptied outside while you wear a mask.
Get rid of all carpets.
Air your bedding in sunlight during the summer every day to kill the mites.
Cut down on sugar

Have you been tested for H.Pylori bacteria? I'm sure Jonathan will be able to confirm that it is responsible for many ulcers and is a) easily diagnosed with a stool test and b) very easily treated with antibiotics.

Enjoy the rides, cycling & activity of anything sort helps and/or can be enjoyable

@ 52yr's I've been into cycling & bicycles for 42yr's

- 2002, after 2000 & 2001 with a 43000 mile annual commute & every awake hour at work ? Dramatically reduced commute, reduced time at work and a new bike, c/w 150 miles weekly & 20mph average in no time, will have helped (Nb. Can't avg 20mph now  )
- 2024, after 5yr's banned from swimming, banned from exercising at public sector gyms I've used for years, or anything else? Even had "don't ride your bicycle", on my last hospital discharge (Nb. No cycling injuries for near 4yr's), 23 days back.

Had the longer 47 mile round miles to the private gym I now use, c/w 2 Hr workout, today. Was great. Song birds, bumblebees, butterflies all over the place. And an emergency vehicle pulling in front of me, 12 miles down the road, slowing down, blue lights on, as on an empty B Road I was the only person / vehicle in sight ? Probably a crew who've picked me up in the past 5yr's.

Worth enjoying every ride. Though sounds like your bikes better maintained than mine, both mine haven't had a overhaul for 2yr's
