Garmin fee?

I wonder if anyone knows if garmin explore2 computer works out of the box or if there is a monthly subscription fee? Also I would appreciate any advice on garmin. Thanks. #bob.
There's no subscription fee. I really like my Edge Explore 2, but opinions vary and really we'd need to know what you want to do with it. That model is aimed more at leisure, touring and Audax riding than the committed racing type who does lots of training and wants the statistics to match, for example.
The Garmin Connect Web site is also free, and well worth signing up to if you want to get the best out of their devices.
