Positively tested for Covid

Following a third day of unwellness, I gave in and took my partner's advice, and used a self test kit to see if I had covid
Which confirmed I have. Indeed missing from the main stay news, is the fact that hospital admissions for the two new types is on the increase.

COVID first timer 3 months ago. Some link with high blood pressure is being suggested from online searches. Some pharmacies and GP waiting rooms offer self check blood pressure tests, so no need to book or see a GP.

Hope you’re feeling better soon.
My elder daughter and her husband came down with it last week, which really surprised me, and when I nosed about, yes, there is indeed a lot of it about now, which seems odd in summer.

The latest statistics are available here. But not many people now take a test or report the results.

There's more of it about than you'd think. I've just got over a mild COVID infection from a few weeks back. I work from home now but I still managed to get it, almost certainly when shopping.
The symptoms didn't suggest COVID at first. It took a second lateral flow test to confirm it. Just goes to show- always have a few test kits to hand, to be on the safe side. And don't assume the kit will pick it up first time round. If in doubt repeat in a day or two.I was warned about this by my brother who used to be a pathology lab technician.

I had it a week ago -- wife down with it too -- our work had just issued a memo that covid-19 had no special status ie if you catch it and you're off work it'll get counted as a sick day where up to now it didn't. They must have known it was doing the rounds again weeks ago.
Symptoms much the same as a cold but slightly worse with a mild fever, chest congestion, feeling cold most of the time and lasting for me about 12 days in all.

Employers aren't telling staff with it to stay at home now, unless they feel too unwell to come in, so shop workers with a mild case are very likely to continue working even if they have a positive test.

Yes, I suspect that's where I picked it up. That's the big problem with "sickness management" polices, they help to spread infections and by default put vulnerable people at risk. Let's hope after the political carnage last night we have more sensible approaches to public health, but I'm not holding my breath.

There's a general desire not to restructure where it isn't essential... but public health in England may need it.

Thanks very much... some symptoms are still persisting, but I'm now self medicating by eating a clove of raw garlic each morning- which takes some getting used to.... on the plus side, more people are now socially distancing themselves from me...

First time Covid a week or so ago, clear test yesterday.
Whilst I'm sure mine was a light dose, I recommend avoiding it.

My perception was that the recent rise pre-dated those events. (I've had sloooowly receding symptoms for about 6 weeks, colleagues had various bugs for a couple of weeks before that, although I'm only speculating that some of those may have been Covid.)
The gov link above shows a May wave, then a higher one in early June (first big jump on June 17th).
I don't have an explanation for a May wave, before you ask!
