Gloves - Does anyone konw where I might find?

Post by Matty Boy »

Does anyone know where I might be able to get hold of a pair of mitts for winter? I am looking for a pair with which the gloves have effectively 3 fingers. One for your thumb, one for the index finger and middle finger and the other for the little finger and the other middle finger. So you can have two fingers on the bars and two fingers on the brake lever. I have seen them on sale before but nobody seems to have them any more. Does anybody know of any stockists?
Thanks
Matt

Lobster claw mitts seem to have disappeared from cycle shops of late... shame, since they're very good! You might find some in motorcycle emporia: for example, motorcycle clothing maker Weise do the "Matrix Mitt" which may well do what you're after.

Beyond that you can often get trigger-finger mitts, which have thumb, index finger and other fingers, in army surplus stores and sometimes in general outdoor shops.

I've got a pair by Caratti. They're wonderful and about 10 years old.

I have had a pair for about 4 years made by RICHA. They are waterproof, Thinsulate lined and breathable.
Pearl Izumi do a lobster glove called the AmFib Lobster glove.

I use those three finger mitts for Scuba diving, I guess you could use them for cycling, they would certainly be warm enough. You would need some made from 2 or 3mm neoprene perhaps, try a Diving Equipment shop.
