It looks like a good design. The problem is it's yet another standard requiring a new pump head. Plus current schrader and presta valves work well enough. I've read anecdotes about people snapping presta valve tops off but in 50+ yrs of cycling I've never managed it. Some hamfisted folk will break just about anything, maybe this is the valve for them? For me there's not a significant problem with prestas that would move me to chuck my current pumps and tubes and buy new ones just to use the 'click' valve.

It's just an adaptor to buy for current tubes and pumps, it doesn't instantly render all previous pumps obsolete. I think it's more aimed at tubeless where the airflow rate is more of an issue.
I've seen countless people break Presta valves. Folk fix a puncture, inflate with CO2 and snap the (now frozen) valve, people bend the valve core getting the pump head on or off... Very common problem with people who only fix their own punctures which is usually very rarely (and quite often the pump itself is slightly seized, the rubber grommet inside is a bit brittle etc through lack of use).

Fair comments rareposter. I can see the increased airflow may be useful for seating tubeless. For oldies like me stuck in our ways with tubed tyres and manual pumps maybe not so much.

I think most of my (Presta) tubes have a fixed core, not a removable core; this looks like a difficulty?
Also, i don't "get" the business with 2 kits; don't they both need a removable (Presta) valve core ?

From what I can work out, an ordinary Schraeder pump-head fits it, just not as simply as the new one.
I’ve bent presta cores a few times, so would probably be safer with this!

I've bent pins, though never to the extent that the valve wasn't usable. Only happened when using high pressure tyres and small direct fit mini pumps, it's been a few years since I've used either or had any valve problem. I can see where it might be useful for tubeless, but I'm not going to start hoarding Presta tubes just yet.

Anything that leads to the demise of scrappy Presta is welcome in my book....

Definitely going on my shopping list. I find screwing my (good quality) pump head on and off presta valves a pita. I like the idea of a simple push and a click to tell you its on.

Somewhat reminiscent of those Regina valves.
Its a long time since ive seen one and dont recall how they worked exactly. Anyone with long memories?

Schwalbe Presta valves screw into the stem, and occasionally unscrew. Almost all Prestas have a thread where the pump fits which has two disadvantages: air leaks out around the threads and the sharp threads chew the rubber pump head. I file the threads blunt. Michelin used to make Prestas with a smooth area for the rubber to grip. Schrader/Auto valves always have a thread.
This design looks good but means we now have five types of bike tyre valve. Standards are good - the more the better.

Here's a link to the original Schwalbe description:

so the diameter of the valve is presta-esque, but the valve innards are more like schrader. The thing is that the feature that numpties complain most bitterly about is actually the presta valve's crowning glory. The 'fiddly little nut' gives positive closure and make for zero added resistance when pumping. I have seen exactly three bent presta valves ever (none of which I was responsible for) and if I had to make a single change, I'd just make the bit that bends out of something more ductile than brass.
Well done Schwalbe! They are 'fixing' a problem that probably doesn't really exist, and giving us something which is probably worse.

Thanks Brucey. It was lonely on this thread for a while

How could it be worse than Presta?!
