Heel Set ups and Cycling

A simple question for anyone with specific knowlege please;
Some years ago and resulting from a left ankle fracture, a podiatrist measured my legs and advised a "Medium" pack up to the uderside of the right hand heel arch support. I use VASYLI arch supports and both heel and insteps can be adjusted with varying thickness adhesive pack ups.
Complicating the issue is undiagnosed pain from the outside of my right knee.
Firstly, I am getting an independent check on the leg lengths in case the original dimensions were accidentally handed.
Secondly, Should I wear the packed up arch supoports in my cycling shoes?

Does your knee on the leg move towards the top tube during the pedal stroke?
This is likely to cause pain on the outside of the knee.
An arch support, perhaps isn’t as relevant for cycling as walking because you press on the ball of the foot and that doesn’t get as much manipulation by the support when cycling.
I found a small wedge on the ball of that foot corrected the knee movement and helped me.
But we are all different and it is important to think clearly. My attitude was, a little adjustment at a time.
What worked for me might not work for you.

Many thanks for this. I suppose it helps having arch support when off the bike for any length of time during a ride.
I hadn't realised that shoe cleats, especially the more expensive ones, can be rotated a small degree to allow for the natural rotation in the lower leg when unsupported (Dangling!)
The cheaper shoes have very little rotational facility.
Elsewhere, someone referrred to pedal shims in 2 mm modules that can be used to take up varying leg lengths.
I wonder if there is a connection between inner thigh soft tissue bruising on one side and uneven leg lengths and might such shims help alleviate this
Anyone like to comment please.

Shimming video, I wish I had access to such things 50 years ago. It would have saved a lot of pain.
With regard to pain on the outside of the knee. If you have been protecting the ankle you may have not been straightening your knee, that may lead to loss of strength/mass from the inside quadriceps at the knee. Straight leg lifts would help, if that is an issue. Makes the joint more stable and kneecap tracking better.

Great info and many thanks. I am having both legs, upper and lower measured by a physio and this may well shed light on my right knree issues.
As of interest, A Cross laser set parallel to the long axis of the bike with the beam through the center of the foot and the bike set up level on say a static trainer, will give some indication of how well the knee tracks during pedal rotation.
