Well done Tomsop11, for finding another bike to compare against yours. Also, my hearing is obviously not that good!

It looks like the gears have been set up correctly judging from your photos. Just to check though; do the gears slip when in use, or feel differently to the other gears, that might indicate we're still dealing with an adjustment issue?

Assuming they don't, and as going back to the bike shop seems to be out of the question, then I'd contact Cube customer service again, and ask them for further advice in light of this new information. I'd send them recordings of your bike and the bike with the 'known good' hub, to highlight the difference in the noise they make. I wouldn't attempt any remedial action myself until I'd contacted Cube as this may void any warranty that comes with the hub, and the Alfine 8 isn't cheap.

Here are the various Shimano techdocs associated with the hub (in english):
https://si.shimano.com/en/manual/search ... ared%20Hub

From these I note that removing and lubricating the internals is a dealer task. Only the dealer manual (DM) gives instructions on how to do it. The service instructions (SI) and user manual (UM) simply recommends that you contact the place of purchase or a distributor to do this. It doesn't mean that servicing the hub can't be done by the user; I service mine, but I point out the advice in the SI and UM in case you feel you may want to make a warranty claim. If you do, then you should first contact Cube customer service for advice, before taking the internals out of the hub.
