Mallory Park

Post by [XAP]Bob »

Had a great evening at Mallory Park last night... they have a very sensible set of rules on the track (run counterclockwise, cycle clockwise) as well as a safety team in the water for those swimming.
No requirements for any specific type of equipment, just a nice smooth track with a bit of a climb to the hairpin.

They open Monday and Wednesday evenings (6pm to dusk; £7.50 booked, £8.50 on the day, monthly and season passes available) with Monday being more family focussed (under 12s free with an adult) and Wednesday being designated as faster/more experienced...

Grateful to the guy who helped me unload the velo from the roof when I arrived, and the couple who helped me put it back on when I'd had my fun.
That couple was surprised to find that there wasn't an engine inside... I guess the speed of the chain when I'm running the effective 95t chainring (Schlumpf HSD) just makes too much of a motor noise.

Held 35mph for reasonable stretches, and averaged 20/22mph over the lap* depending on whether I included the chicane...

* lap defined by the start finish line, I'm not convinced I ever pushed for that kind of lap, but it made the most sense when defining the segment on the "social" excercise app which has gone seriously downhill recently
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.
There are two kinds of people in this world: those can extrapolate from incomplete data.
