Mavic now call this rim (or its replacement) something like 'open elite'. Same old poop in a slightly different bucket? Pretty much. IME these rims do not build well if the end product is to be heavily dished. They are an OK training rim otherwise.

Do Open Elites build ok into 7 speed cassette hubs as a replacement for MA3 rims.

It's an existing wheelset I have acquired. I favour MA2's personally. (Got a couple to hand) :D

the ERD and the extrusion profile are almost identical, but for some reason they seem to build less well. BITD I had problems with dished rear wheels, so for a long time I used 128mm 7s hubs. with the rear RH flange as far as possible to the right. In many cases this involved machining of a freehub body, but I did not see the need for dished sprockets at that time.
