Does anyone know any good websites or shops in the central south of england for buying second hand road bikes. I am after some thing of a reasonable standard that could do some long rides and some semi serious competition so probably an equivalent of a current entry level (£500 ish) road bike.

my bike at the moment is a mountian bike so i am afraid that it wont be much good. thanks for the offer. What i am really looking for is somewhere that sells good quallity second hand road bikes. there must be a market in them, but i just cant find it!

get in contact with www.interbike.co.uk who are situated in Marks Tey, Essex. But i'm sure a second-hand cycle will be more expensive than a new Raleigh Wotsitsname though!
