Yes I know a few people who have had Shingles and described it as ‘agony’, hopefully now I won’t experience that!
I had shingles in my early seventies. I thought I was suffering bites from an insect.
After an online search it seemed I had bed bugs - couldn't find any signs of them - searched again and decided it might be shingles.
Doctor confirmed shingles and gave me medication - "you've had it too long for the medication to be effective but in case it flares up again".
Experiences vary - it can be very nasty - I didn't find it very painful - more irritating.
Not disimilar for me. I was helping renovate a house and had been scrabbling on my back in gravel under decking for hours when the rash started and I thought scratches with some infection getting in. Got worse, after a few days contacted GP who asked me to e-mail a photo and within the hour they (nurse practitioner) phoned me "Unquestionably shingles, Anti-virals waiting for you at our pharmacy but probably too late to help".

After a day I got fed-up and found that if I cut the bottom off a single use supermarket bag I could wear it round my chest like a tube over the rash and, whilst still painful I could head out on the recumbent without ruining the seat with seeping from the area. All got very horrible inside the bag by the end of the ride but overall made me feel a lot "better" as I'd done something, taken some exercise.

Just for info.

I can find no reference to how far apart they should be, but apparently the RSV Jab should not be coterminous with the flu and covid protection. I'm due flu tomorrow, covid next week.

NHS News; "For those adults eligible for both, the NHS will make flu and COVID-19 jabs available at the same time, giving the option to get protection from both viruses in one visit. However, it is more effective for people to have the RSV vaccination on a different day from any flu or COVID-19 vaccinations."

In case anyone in similar situation/age group (76 to 79), first offer from my GP, 3 days ago, was an appointment at the only session planned, this Saturday p.m.
Phoned and said couldn't make it, so a few hours later offered me one outside the RSV "clinic" - next Tuesday. That'll do!
I think that not all nurses who normally give e.g. flu vac qualified to give the injection, was the same with my post-prostate hormone injections - twice had to be cancelled because "wrong" practitioner available.

Conclusion. Done. From the admittedly limited "research" I considered necessary I think worthwhile.
