recommendations for marking / registering e-bike

I have seen a lot of things for registering marking an e-bike

What do people recommend , on out old bikes (about £150 in the 90's each ) we just used a infrared marker pen and put the postcode

Now we have £1000's , worth of bike

what are the best options to mark, register ???

Now on House contents , all they took was the e-bike value - no other details , locks, stored , frame numbers etc , which i was expecting to have to answer

Bit late to the conversation, but…

I put all my bikes (even the grandkid loaners) on Bike Register. I understand that the police check all recovered / found bikes on it.

Most are just registered using photos and frame numbers on the site, but nicer ones get a Bike Register sticker and my top bike has the full monty.

Thanks, we are just staying at a holiday park in forest of dean, and the welcome pack included flyer from the Gloucestershire Police regarding bikes being stolen and they recommend the bikeregister - I looked into that and will have to think about what stickers etc i may need
not clear if its free just to register

You can set up a BikeRegister account for free, and record the details of your bike(s).

You can then add a tamper-evident label with a QR code, a printed mark on the frame or a mark that shows up under UV light for an additional £12.99 - £29.99. https://www.bikeregister.com/ Carbon fibre probably put an end to embossing postcodes into frames with a hammer and letter stamps!

Our local police force (Cambs) runs bike marking events where you can get the "entry level" QR labels for free - other forces may run similar schemes in other parts of the country.

For me, finding and recording the frame number is the classic task you keep meaning to do but put off until tomorrow, so setting up a free account and recording the bike details somewhere gets you over this hurdle, and gives your bike a way to find its way back to you if it gets stolen and then recovered.

Cycling UK members get 15% off at Bike Register. My first registered bike got the paint etching treatment but I now use the sticker kits. One is prominently put on the crossbar and the other somewhere more discreet. I would also add that if a bike gets re-homed then it's easy on Bike Register for the registered owner to transfer the bike to the new owner.

You can also attach (hidden) an Apple AirTag to it if you have an iPhone to track it and live where many others have these phones. e.g. a city. Bikes and luggage have been recovered in Düsseldorf with it. A bigger thing called a Tile works with other phones but not nearly so well. An even bigger and more expensive GPS tracker works with anything and anywhere.
