https://fulgaz.com/ I think it’s currently £15/mth if paid yearly.
Your trainer needs to be smart. I use a Wahoo Snap usually similar on EBay as users upgrade to wheel off systems.
Knowing what I know now , I actually use it, I’d probably buy wheel off if I’d my time again.
A friend got a big bonus from work. He blew it on a Watt bike and has used it three times! You just don’t know until you try.
Can my smart tv be used to display the road journey?
What device do you want to run the FulGaz app on?

extremely tough workout on it (and hone you bike-handling skills). As well as using your gears,
it also has resistance settings (0-1-2-3).

I use a v basic trainer simply so that whatever the weather or other demands on my time I can always do my min 10 miles per day. I'm lucky in that I simply open the garage door....fresh air but sheltered from rain.
Headphones and Spotify makes it all quite bearable!

I think it's a no. --- which doesn't make sense -- you'd think putting it on the tv would be the logical way to go

You might be able to run the app on a device which can show the journey on the TV...

I find those mirror and cast to tv apps not very useful. The video quality is terrible since it's trying to upscale and process video stream at the same time. --- I have web OS 3 -- so a fairly recent tv. Bought in late 22 I think.

Are you talking about running an app on the smart TV or running an app on a separate device and casting it to a smart TV?

I often watch video from other devices on a TV and the quality is fine.

That all depends on the 'other devices' but I'd rather have the app itself running on the tv with video streamed from the platform so it's in sync with my static bike pedaling. One other way would be to have the video built into the static bike equipment itself so it's not got the delay of the internet but I suppose that's how all the good ones work. Download a route from the platform and send that to the tv via whatever -- cables would be best cos electromagnetic waves can glitch at times.

You run the app -- Fulgaz, Zwift or others -- on a device. This can be a phone, tablet or PC (Mac or Windows). The app runs the video for you. It also connects to your smart trainer and heart rate monitor. The app displays data such as power, heart rate, calculated speed etc on the video while you are riding. It controls the resistance of your trainer to simulate hills.

If you want a bigger display, connect a TV or a large computer monitor to your device. You can do this via an HDMI cable. Chromecast also works for a TV.

If you just want to try it out, get a free trial of Fulgaz or Zwift and run it on your computer; then you don't need to shell out for a large TV until you know you're going to use it.

All the above depends on using a "smart" trainer. You can use a non-smart trainer but then you'll miss out on much of the "realism".

You can use Zwift with a dumb trainer if you’ve got a speed sensor as it’ll extrapolate power. It’s not as good and as I think someone has said above you can get a Kickr Snap or similar relatively cheaply as people as trading them in for wheel off trainers.

I think you can do fairly low power group rides where you can twiddle along watching the virtual scenery pass by.

If you are on Zwift, there are a number of low wattage group rides, where you can just pootle along in the pack without having to really push yourself. I often do the “Herd” rides, which are typically 1 to1.5 watts per kg, which for me is about 100-150 watts. There are several of these rides each week and you can get as many as 2 or 3 hundred people on them, from all over the world. So a lunchtime ride for me, will be a Breakfast or pre-work ride in America or an after work ride for someone in Japan or Australia. I find these rides quite motivating compared to riding on my own in Zwift. You do need a smart trainer to get the best out of these rides.

I even once did a Cat D Zwift race, which was fine until we got to the hill on the course, where they all left me for dead!

I can run Zwift on my iPad or on my Apple TV box, connected to my bedroom TV, for a bigger screen experience. I use my summer road bike with a Wahoo Kickr, several fans and at least 2 towels. You do sweat a lot!

Zwift went up from £12 a month, to £18 a month. So I’m considering switching to Rouvy, which uses real world footage and is still only £13 a month.
