eBay has banned sales of EVERY eBike item...

Post by Manc33 »

I had a brake cutoff sensor listed for sale on eBay and today it's suddenly violating a policy.

Are they being serious? :?

So there it is, every single item that's related to eBikes is now not allowed to be listed.

What lunatics are running that place, honestly. I thought the banning of listing eBike related stuff was to do with potentially dangerous cheap batteries and illegal motors?

"To help maintain safety standards, only sellers that meet certain requirements can list e-bike products for sale in the UK marketplace".

Sure, because a sensor on a cable is going to suddenly explode or something! Stone the crows.

Is a wired bike computer now banned too?

After all that has a wire with a sensor on it... oops, but it's not for an eBike so that's all just fine!

What about cassettes, chains, pedals, tyres... since eBikes also have those? How can they make sure the seller isn't listing it and the buyer is going to put it on an eBike? The horror!

What logic are they even using to justify this insanity!
We'll always be together, together on electric bikes.

Be interesting to see if they lump electronic shifters in with the new rules. Glad I stuck with cable operated gears. :D

What about connecting up the brake sensor to a device that sends a strong electric pulse to your leg to persuade you to stop pedalling and giving power to the wheel.

I don't think they banned ebike bikes or parts completely, but required them to come from a certain level of seller.
I think they have to be a business seller and that there was some extra condition on the seller as well.

They will be business sellers
•E-bikes: This includes e-bikes and their batteries, chargers, and conversion kits. These products can only be sold by business sellers. Please note that used e-bike batteries will no longer be able to be sold on ebay.co.uk

That’s sounding better… :)

As an aside, I recently heard from Tony at Nano on the subject of brake sensors. His view is that brake sensors will no longer be included in their conversions nor in their kits.
