Bike Fitting

Post by RCJ90 »

Hi All,

Happy New Year.

I want to arrange a bike fit. I've seen really good posts around Adrian Timmis, but they were quite old posts now.

Does anyone have any recommendations, the two I have looked at the most are
Adrian Timmis
Sigma Sports - Oakham Andy Shore

Any advice/recommendation would be massively welcomed.

Thanks

Tim Williams at Perfect Condition, Girton near Cambridge sorted me out about 8 years ago. Thoroughly recommend him.

I was watching Mapdec cycling recently and they spoke highly of current apps available. Using them to get the right sized bike , they said, was more trustworthy than a salesman
They can then be used for further tuning.

Where abouts should the bike fitter be ?

I used The Bike The Body nr Melksham, N. Wiltshire. Bryan is a physiotherapist, which I found reassuring and useful. I will be using him again for my road bike before the spring.
Two wheels preferred.

Start by having a look at 531colin's DIY fit guide... https://wheel-easy.org.uk/wp-content/up ... -2017a.pdf

This is not to say it's not worth getting a professional fit, but it will give you some good information on the nuts and bolts of what you're actually trying to do and how you might go about fine-tuning fit yourself.
Bike fitting isn't an exact science (because everyone's body is different for a start) so you might want to tweak a professional fit yourself in any case.

Pete.

A lot depends on where you are, how far you are willing to travel and how much you are willing to spend. A friend of mine has used Adrian Timmis and speaks highly of him. He is West Midlands based, north of Birmingham..

Other bike fitters of note seem to be Dan at UK Bikefit near Derby ( A trained physio who also rides and races bikes), Phil Burt (ex Team GB Physio) based in Manchester. James Thomas (Bike fit James on YouTube), based in Richmond on Thames.

I’ve no personal experience of any of them.
Sherwood CC and Notts CTC.
