What does the ´T’ refer to? The bolt is steel and comes from a Nitto quill stem.

Letters on bolt heads usually refer to the manufacturer.

Thanks, that’s what I thought too, but it’s supposedly from a Nitto stem. Maybe they now get the bolts from elsewhere? They didn’t use to have a bolt like this. Hmmm, curious.

Marks on bolt heads are generally the grade, such as 8.8 for high tensile, or lines indicating the grade.

Bolts with no markings are usually low grade fixings.

A letter inside a cap head is possibly a manufacturers mark.
Two wheels preferred.

That ^^ but there's an alphabet grading system as well (kind of like centigrade and Fahrenheit, tells you the same info in different ways!)

T is mid grade (high tensile) steel, the commonest stuff for hex bolts. B is low grade mild steel, there's a V and X grade too for the high end / precision stuff.

We've become used to premium brands tending to id the components used in their products, which appeals I suppose to the same part of the brain that likes clothing "labels". We're reassured when the price we pay for good quality products is reflected in details like the appearance of small parts. And so I suppose the reverse might be true, when we see a mark that doesn't appear to fit in with our expectations. I was always very grateful that the eye-watering price I paid for Rohan bags was justified by the brand name embossed on all their buttons...

I have spotted 'T' nuts and always thought that they were from Thun , a Japanese brand as is Nitto.
