That old LNER bike cupboard Chestnut, but recumbent specific

Post by pjclinch »

Will be heading down to Newcastle on the LNER train for the IJmuiden ferry later on this year and am pondering which bike to take. Much forum bandwidth has covered the wee cupboards for bikes on current LNER trains but I didn't see any recent 'bent specific experience... Has anyone wrestled a 'bent bike into one and lived to tell the tale, and if so what sort of bike was it please?

I don't doubt it'll be a PITA but is it reasonably possible?

Pete.

It's a while ago (2022) when I travelled from York to Euston with my SMGTe. It was a tight fit, but I hung th bike by it's front wheel. It would be avisable to book as a tandem so you get both spaces reserved. There is not really enough space for a second bike in the locker.

Good luck!

Thanks for that.
One of those times where having just the one bike would be easier as I wouldn't have to choose!

Hmmmm...
