Cycle Shows
Cycle Shows
Are there any decent dedicated cycle shows in the UK now?
I used to go to London and the NEC, both of which are no longer running.
The NEC one is now par of the National Outdoor exhibition, but there are very few cycle related stands. Surely there must be demand

Re: Cycle Shows
The fact that there are very few shows (and the ones that do exist are partnered with (eg) The Outdoors Show) should tell you that there isn't much demand!
NEC show is in late March 2026.
The problem is that it's very expensive to exhibit there so a lot of brands don't bother. Punters rock up looking for Brands X, Y and Z which are nowhere to be seen so the show gets slated which impacts future shows and so on.
The Adventure Travel Show in London (10-11th January) has a gravel bike sub-section this year).
Bespoked Cycle Show (the custom framebuilding one) is in South London next year but that's really quite a niche show. Brilliant, but if you're looking for a generic e-bike for £1500 say, you're not going to find one there!
Some magazines / websites coordinate demo days, usually at a cycle circuit like Leeds, Bath etc where a bunch of brands will come together with a demo fleet and you can ride them around for a bit.

Re: Cycle Shows
Bespoked is very interesting if you like slightly non-mainstream bikes, slightly non-mainstream bike luggage etc, even if you actually have no intention of buying anything (which would be a not-cheap experience if you did!).
Re: Cycle Shows
Rouleur Live looks pretty good. I’ve not been but I’ve seen quite a few YouTube videos of people who have been. It’s £25 to get in, but as well as the trade stands there are talks from various people in the cycling industry including current and ex-pro riders. It usually takes place around October/November. It’s in London.
The last time I went to the NEC show it was all ebikes and weird stuff.

Re: Cycle Shows
As an alternative idea, cycle jumbles are a good way of meeting folk and picking up interesting ideas. The bigger ones sometimes have trade representation.

Other events include well known speakers talking about life or events. Bradley Wiggins was a recent host doing the rounds. Currently someone is promoting "a Sunday in Hell". Showing the 1976 film of Paris Roubaix and talking about it.

That's a good tip, thanks (I've been to a Dr Hutch talk with one of those hosts, I think).rjb wrote: 23 Dec 2025, 11:01am Currently someone is promoting "a Sunday in Hell". Showing the 1976 film of Paris Roubaix and talking about it.

Sunday in Hell is an awesome film, interesting how eclectic the list of venues is - no London, Manchester etc!

Re: Cycle Shows
I think some regulars here are old enough to remember the Harrogate Shows, which I always enjoyed. Ron Kitching filled up any spare stands with his various brands. I remember, if memory serves, a 64T chainring, with elaborate cut outs.

Re: Cycle Shows
I went down to London 30 years ago for a bike exhibition I'd seen advertised somewhere or other. When I arrived at the advertised address there was no sign of anything that looked like an exhibition hall, just an office with a note on the door saying "Bike Exhibition Cancelled", so I turned round and went home again. That's my one and only experience of bike exhibitions.

Re: Cycle Shows
You haven't really said what you want from a cycle show, or indeed where you are / how far you're willing to travel and if you're looking to buy anything or after any particular niche of cycling (e-bikes, gravel, vintage??)...
However, there's a Cycle Jumble in Bristol on 3rd January:
The Bristol Bike Jumble is on again on Saturday JANUARY 3RD midday at BW Cycling.
MANY MANY thanks to BW Cycling for allowing this event to be hosted in their lovely car park ( shade in summer, rain cover in winter!! )

Re: Cycle Shows
Anything bike related really. I’m into mountain, my wife is more canal towpath, so various new bikes, inc electric, innovation, parts and accessories, cleaning products etc. We used to go to the one in London Excel which was good, but that stopped a few years back
Re: Cycle Shows
Thanks for your input guys. The Rouleur live 2025 looks just the thing I’m looking for

Re: Cycle Shows
Quoting my own post but I went to this today. Exhibits from Surly, Mason, Kinesis, Reilly, Vielo and Guava on the bikes / frame front. Small stage where they had a range of interviews over the day with the likes of Mark Beaumont and Molly Weaver. Brooks were there with their saddle and bike luggage range. A few other stalls of bike-related stuff. Schwalbe had their range of gravel tyres on show for example.rareposter wrote: 23 Dec 2025, 7:05am https://www.cyclist.co.uk/sponsored/gra ... -expo-2026

Couple of weeks time in London.
That was alongside the main Travel show up on the main concourse.
It was pretty good. Probably not worth a long trip to London for thought but it seemed to be something that they were keen to build on. I spent maybe 4-5hrs at the whole show.

Re: Cycle Shows
One of the biggest shows of all is going through a difficult patch too. Eurobike is a massive industry event as well as being open to the public so the fact that both Shimano and Bosch have said they won't be there this year is kind of like your two biggest headline acts pulling out of Glastonbury.
