Is there an online archive of scanned old CTC Cycle magazines as pdf etc?

I can't find any on the wayback machine yet?

I don't know of any online source going so far back but someone might. If you have a particular date in mind you could always try eBay for hardcopy. I have previously located a specific date of magazine there. Might this work for you? For example https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw= ... to_correct

Not what you asked for because it isn't available online, but University of Warwick's Modern Records Centre holds copies of some old CTC magazines https://mrc-catalogue.warwick.ac.uk/records/CTC/6/2/5

This is part of the National Cycle Museum Trust archive https://mrc-catalogue.warwick.ac.uk/records/NCM

I suspect you would have to arrange to go there to look at them, and it says you have to ask to view individual items rather than being able to browse the whole collection.

It seems curious no one who stored / collected their old (pre2010) Cycle mags has scanned and uploaded them:

This has been done for many electronic and computer magazines (often a retirement project I think).

Old cycle magazines will have Chris Juden articles in them so a cut above the eras' commercial magazines' technical articles.

I don't suppose I am alone in lamenting the decline of the magazine.
When I receive it I skim through it and discard it - usually within ten minutes.
Like a lot of members I only pay dues for the insurance.

The entire Volume XV of the CTC Gazette (all issues from the year 1896) is available to view in Google Books!
https://www.google.co.uk/books/edition/ ... frontcover
It includes a flame war over "rational dress" in the Letters columns. Perhaps things don't change as much as we think they do...

Would the British library also have every copy of CTC Cycle mag? Would either consider allowing volunteers to scan(and possibly OCR) them for uploading to the wayback machine etc...? Should Cycling UK HQ themselves not have an archive of past magazines which could be scanned?

Back when I was a trustee in 2018-20 there was still a big rack of shelves filled with bound copies of old CTC magazines at Cycling UK HQ. Dunno if they're still there. It's not a big building!
Scanning sounds like a job an interested volunteer could do, but I suspect Warwick Uni would be the place to approach - they're likely to have more space and the right technology available, as they have a continuing digitisation programme. A few items from the national cycling archive are already online.

Thanks, unfortunately they would both require a ferry and long train journey for me to volunteer :)
