I’ve used merino padded boxers from Vulpine for a few years now - the advantage is that merino absorbs the sweat (which is nicer for your undercarriage).

Best purchased in the sales as they are a bit pricey otherwise…

Always worth looking in Decathlon for cycle-related stuff. They have a range of shorts from cheap to mid-range. I like their endurance waist shorts with side pockets (I think they're branded Van Rysen which is their premium range). I used them for 10-hour day rides for a month tour recently and they were faultless. The pockets may seem un-necessary but are actually handy for things you need to access quickly (Freedom train pass :lol: ).
