Milan San Remo 2026

Post by MrsHJ »

Awesome race- try and catch some highlights if you can or just watch the last 35km.

I need to see the women’s race highlights- I understand there was a nasty crash on the Poggio descent.

I saw a clip on Instagram and it looked terrible, a couple of girls crashed into the barrier then others crashed into them and a few went over the barrier onto the road below.

Apparently the worst injury from the crash in the women's race was five broken ribs for Debora Silvestri (the woman in pink who went over the guardrail and landed on the other road several metres below). But writing from hospital after the crash she said on Instagram: "I feel quite good, five ribs broken and microfracture on shoulder... could be worse."

I have to admit the crash is putting me off watching the women’s race. I’m glad it wasn’t as bad as it looks (not that I’d want broken ribs but better than a broken head).

I have rewatched the men’s race (from 35km to go). Still fantastic to watch. Lots of drama and excitement and such incredible skill and general awesomeness, I was really worried they were going to get caught on the line.

I watched the men’s race on Rai Sport. Found it pretty deadly except for the last 500m. Early on in the race, the leaders went the wrong way at a roundabout. Similar thing happened at a junction in the Strade Bianche.🤦‍♂️😂

a couple more metres and we'd be feteing young Tom, but no disgrace in that result, harks back to the days of head to head finishes i remember from my youth.
Convention? what's that then?

I saw it live, not realising that the Donne race was even on. Shocking scenes, but the actual injuries were no worse than in many other races, thank goodness.
FYI: i believe the crash was at the bottom of the Cipressa descent. So if you do want to watch, you could perhaps use that info to mitigate the unpleasantness.

The silver lining was seeing Kim Lecourt sacrifice her race to stay and aid Kasia ( who looked a lot worse than she was). Admirable.

Yeah, great stuff!
