Off topic, but some of you are local to the area, so may know - the Strawberry Line that goes into Yatton, does it have and problematic gates or barriers on it (that might affect one riding with panniers?).
Thanks in advance.
Thoughts on Proposed Route LE to Bristol
Re: Thoughts on Proposed Route LE to Bristol
Only A frames as far as i recall, and wide enough to pass with panniers. It can get very muddy though, and you'll need lights for the tunnel.
Re: Thoughts on Proposed Route LE to Bristol
A frames to the south of Sandford can be a bit annoying, but you can bypass them by going up to the station in the retirement village (and get tea and cake sitting on the old station platform).
I haven't actually cycled the new bit around the Thatchers factory, but in the past that used to be a really crappy bit so its good they've updated it. The A frame to the north of Sandford and the track is probably the worst bit.
I have done it all on a fully loaded Dawes Galaxy and had no problems getting panniers through though.

I would call it "messy after rain" rather than "muddy"; IIRC it's all a hard surface so it should always be rideable (on any tyres).Bmblbzzz wrote: 2 Apr 2026, 10:42am Only A frames as far as i recall, and wide enough to pass with panniers. Sadly there's usually a thin layer of wet crud sat on top (due to the overhanging trees?). It's probably beautiful on a dry day in July!

Thanks to all for the info. Why did they bother to put 'A' frames in place? Non-cyclist's designing cycle routes.
