Well, not yet, but there is a cycle run out in a couple of weeks. They cycle the same route as the Parish Walk here on the island, cept in reverse.

Entire route is 87 miles long.

Beth, Rosie and I are going for it! (We will be chuffed if we get to St. Johns which will be 50ish miles over good ol' hilly landscape.)

It seems the cycle club do this on the island. Its non-competitive for us, we are doing it for the experience, not to win or anything like that. There is a family section so we are going that bit.

£10 entry which includes food. Not bad! It helps raises funds for Parkinsons Disease this year.

Just praying for no wind. Chas will be about with the bike rack should we have to bale out. Or should the girls get tired and I want to continue... Fab.... Cant wait! The next best thing to an Audax ride is this....

It's amazing what a rest and something to eat can do for you. I've been on my last legs after 100 miles but a good dinner, half an hour off the bike and a determination to keep pedalling and another 150 is possible.
All forward motion is getting you there.

Go for it

Take plenty of chocolate, flapjacks, a spoonfull of glucose in your water bottle, and take a breather when you need it. It will be a great feeling when you finnish and sit back and think "We did that"

Good luck to you all

Just go at a steady pace, eat and drink,be aware the hardest miles are the last few.
It may help to think of your ride in sections 10 miles 20 miles etc ,it wont seem so far then.
Bon courage.

My Mum was born in St John's.

I'm impressed if yuo cycle there. Y'know, straight across the Antlantic to Newfoundland. Perhaps if you take a detour you can dry off for a while in Greenland?

Good luck.

And don't fret about it, you'll breaze it. I'm willing to bet that you'll say that it was easier than Day 1 or 2 of your CTC.

Me and the Mrs recently cycled from Nottingham to Skegness - 80 miles. I've done it before but it was the first time for her and her longest ride ever.

Took us 5 hours actual riding, 6hrs 15 actual time as we had a few rest stops and one cafe stop. She loved it - now wants to do a 100 miler!
