ACCIDENT

Post by france tourer »

Last month a i was overtaking a van when the driver opened the door. I tried to swerve ut it was to late the door edge went between my front rack and wheel and i went flying.
I landed in the middle of the road and sustained heavy bruising all down my left side that is not the problem.
As i was sorting myself out laid on the road i heard a crunching sound, it was the facist pig of a driver speeding off over my bike. All i know is that it was a white van
. I took my bike to the shop it is a dawes horizon it cost £474 new. i had it insured for £700 because of the improvements i have made to the parts over the years. The first shop give me an estimate of £550 the second £520. I sent these in to the insurance company who said " we will get you a new bike a dawes horizon i know that you can pick one up for around £400.
I tried to explain to them the reason i had insured it for £700 in the first place is that it is what its worth.
This is a warning to you all read the smallprint and beware of these insurance companies no matter who reccomends them

That van driver sounds like a right idiot!
It says clearly in the highway code that drivers MUST (i.e. it is a legal responsibility) ensure they do not hhit anyone when they open their car door.

Sorry to hear about that. Thanks for the warning though. Was that CTC insurance?
