Hi. I'm new to the forum and to touring and need to get some replacement inner tubes for my Dawes Galaxy. What would you recommend? Many thanks

Anything but Specialized, which have a woeful reputation for valve separation.

The best inner tubes are the ones with the smallest moulding lines - these are otherwise a PITA when you have to patch them.

Personally, I'm sold on the 'slime' filled type. I also use the Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres on both my regular bikes. I'm touching wood as I type this - but over the last 1500 miles of commuting on them (some of it on cycle paths deliberately re-surfaced with broken glass - such is the measure of the street vermin in the fair city of Hull  ) I've been problem free.

A colleague has experienced glass getting through his tyre, but thanks to the tube he was able to finish his journey to work and get home again that evening (about 15 miles in total) without using a pump.

A week or two back Halfords were doing a three for two offer on all tubes, but I don't know if it's still on.
