I suppose that contains some variables. It's thirteen miles from York to Wetherby - admittedly the B 1224 is busier than it was 'when I was a lad' but there are nearby alternatives. Aim just a bit further north, say around Knaresboro and you are quickly into some serious hills. I don't imagine anybody picks a university just for the cycling - even a cycling mad cyclist - but if all the other things that are important to you are met (if it ticks all the boxes as they say :wink: ) then the cycling in and around York will not disappoint.
